Today we used the Epilog Lazar Engraving Machine, I used one of my dog images and engraved it onto glass, I set the image to 600dpi and inverted the image so that the white parts of my image was engraved in white and I put black card behind so that the white stud out and so that the black parts of the image was black (image above). I really like the image/ affect. I found that it works better with a really high contrast image. I also had the idea of engraving the butterfly images onto silk and making a patchwork or onto different colours of acrylic and joining them together, similar to a patchwork.
It is always daunting to try a new technique. The final finished print and frame has creative and commercial potential. It is great to see the inspiration that you have got from the technology and this should give you added incentive to push forward and experiment with this digital technology
